Boston Bound

16Oct2005

I am spending the next week in Boston, having touched down today. The first thing I noticed was the cold – it is chilly here, and the second thing I noticed is that my “compact” rental car is 3 times the size of my car in Bermuda. I am staying in the middle of nowhere, with the closest landmark a gigantic mall about 2 miles away. I took a run down to see what it was like and was immediately overwhelmed by the scale and selection. I decided to take a few photos of the architectural features, only to be stopped by a security guard after taking one shot. He told me that it is prohibited to take photos in the mall – but could not tell me why – let’s face it, it’s not exactly the Pentagon. Still, that was my cue to leave and go and find a Starbucks – there wasn’t one in the mall, which is even spookier than not being able to take photos. A mall without Starbucks … what next?
