Early Warning Systems

Imagine where we would be without Early Warning Systems. We would run out of petrol, suffer from smoke inhalation or die in a nuclear holocaust. But it could be worse – if Hamish had been a Manx. The lack of a tail would have probably left me maimed on more than one occasion. Why? Because his tail acts as an early warning system – it flashes when he starts getting annoyed, and flashes quicker as the annoyance grows. I am still trying to judge the exact point between him being annoyed but inactive or annoyed and taking my hand off. Needless to say, I have a few scratches to help me with my experiments.
