Weather for Ducks
13Feb2006It looks like we have been suffering the fringes of that massive Nor’easter which pounded the East Coast over the weekend. But instead of snow we just had rain and wind, and a lot of it. Bermuda can be a pretty miserable place to be when the wind is howling and the rain is driving into your face. It’s a shame because on Saturday before the weather broke we managed to visit the Farmers Market, which had some great local produce including some giant lobsters. Between showers we even managed a trip to the new restaurant at the Belmont Hotel, Blu on Saturday night and dined on some great steak and fish in pleasant surroundings. Pity about their cheap laminated menus – they don’t really reflect the tone of the place.
Once the weather set in badly on Sunday, though, being here is just like being anywhere in the rain. You stay at home, turn on the TV and watch whatever happens to be playing. In this case, the Winter Olympics, where the weather seemed nicer than it was on the East Coast, and the star of the day was called the “Flying Tomato“. Funny that.
