Alien Planet

Some random musings:

1) How can Google start providing a mapping service for Mars when they don’t even have names on their maps for Bermuda yet?

2) How do those detectives from Law and Order always manage to arrest the baddie when he is chairing a board meeting or speaking at a conference i.e. when there are hundreds of people around? Do you think they call up his PA in advance and ask “We need to arrest your boss. Can you tell us when he’s most busy please? Oh, and keep this under your hat…”?

3) The Royal Gazette has an article which has a piece at the bottom about Bus Arson in Bermuda costing and additional $875,000 in overtime. Now if there were as many as 100 bus drivers in Bermuda, that would amount to $8,750 per driver in additional wages. That’s a nice bonus. When did bus drivers command higher incomes than most of the rest of society?

  14. Very nice picture! Sorry to be practical but would you know what the toy is called in english? Back home we call it boink but me trying to go to mothercare and ask for a boink was not a success…

  15. 1) Improvisation.

    2) Brisco and Curtis are just that cool.

    3) How can I apply for THAT job?

    Enjoyed your blog. :)

  16. @jout – it’s not a toy, so that is probably one of the reasons why they could not help (that, and the fact that “boink” is somewhat close to another English word whish may cause them to raise their eyebrows). It is in fact a Dryerball

  17. @atalanta – thanks

  18. I agree with musing number 1 .. how can they map mars when the don’ even have names on maps for Bermuda .. guess it’s priority or what’s appealing to the public ..

regading your subject .. did you hear about the alien rain on india?

  19. Hi, Google may have the world and now mars in their grasp, but they don’t have my world, not yet anyway! I like your site, very pleasant and intertesting reading. If you get time check out my world, before Google steal it from me, http://www.spoofworld.blogspot.com

Hello Bermuda, from the UK. . .

  20. sweet blog. your pictures are awesome. (the pantheon’s my favorite)

and i’m just waiting for google to take over the world. i had my suspicions that it was run by an alien force with plans for anihilation, and, with the advent of google mars, i think i might have something there.

  21. Nama – you are correct. Google will soon rule the world, if they don’t already :-)

  22. Once again Tom, you’re blog is fantastic! Your pics are amazing and I managed to view all in your online gallery.

    Keep up the amazing work!

  23. Ok ok I’ll join the masses. Love the wit in the writings. Definitely brings forth a smile or two.

  24. Love your blog and your pictures are beautiful. What type of camera do you use?

  25. @CC Mills – my pictures are taken either with an old 2.1megapixel Canon Ixus/Elph, or a Panasonic DMC-FZ5. Thinking about buying a proper D-SLR…

  26. Good points here… And yes google is lacking some things in google earth. Deatails in many country areas are totally lame. And, also, they have not shown much ocean deatil that us marine types love! But I wont complain, they should do whatever they want, when they can! It is free after all!

  27. Looks like something from http://www.iwoot.co.uk/ … and no I don’t work for them.

  28. thats true, but i like google. its my homework buddy.

  29. I’m impressed with your pictures. You are quite inspiring…keep it up :)

  30. @Extreme-chick – thanks. I originally took up photography because I wanted to paint, and I thought capturing images on film to paint later would be good inspiration. The problem is that I am so into the photography now that I haven’t started the painting yet. Oh well…

  31. This is a nice blog. I like having maps of Mars–even if the maps of my hometown are at least five years old.

  32. Perhaps you can also take up painting in the future and be an amazing photographer AND painter. Finding the time may be of conflict, but that would still be pretty neat!

  33. good job ‘wit-master’… nice blogs… all very precise n conveying exactly wht they want to… i’ve just started out, lemme know how it is, if u can… cheers…

  34. anubhav – thanks. I checked out your blog – nice!
