Isn’t it just typical – you go to the Express Queue at the supermarket because you have cash and are in a hurry, only to find that it takes longer than any other line.

Still, it gives you time to read some of the great headlines from the various magazines on display:

- Lose weight by the weekend – here’s how – that’s going to be difficult – it’s Saturday already!

- 5 sexy butt moves – before you ask, this magazine was not on the top shelf, it was a perfectly respectable women’s fashion mag

- How to grow picture perfect hydrangeas – do I really need to know? I can kill plants at 20 paces

- Frizz free summer hair – because frizz is much more of an issue for me than grey hair (or so I keep telling myself)

Talking of the media, I forgot to mention that in the last two weeks three of my most recent voluntary ventures have been mentioned locally in a newspaper, on TV and in a glossy magazine – now that’s what I call good press.

And I should also report that whilst the rest of the world (especially Germany) has been basking in sunshine this week, Bermuda has enyoyed a week of what we call “tank rain” – torrential downpours which fill the water tanks (and your shoes). Which is nice as this weekend is a holiday weekend. Let’s hope the sun comes out for long enough for me to test my trusty BBQ skills.

  1. hey welcome back! i thought everyone is just busy watching the world cups. not sure how it is in Bermuda, but in Paris, the sun sets at 22H30 and gets up at 4H30 which leaves not much time for sleep and other indoor activities…

  2. What are the voluntary works that rose public interest?!
    a curious one

  3. ana va havana – thanks. As far as the World Cup is concerned, I’m too busy at work right now to watch it…

e.i. – the main one was the Kathmandu Kids Club

  4. What a wonderful organization. I think there needs to be more awarness in the States of countries suffering so badly. All we see is the christian relief fund commercials that most people assume are just scams to get money for the churches. No one really takes the time to go out of their way to find organizations like this one to see what they can do to make some sort of difference. It’s great that your involved!
Oh, and frizz free summer hair is a myth.
