Discovery
9Sep2006I was watching a dozen ants on a journey of discovery yesterday. They climbed onto Hamish‘s fat, furry belly whilst he was sleeping, and then were off on a wild ride as he awoke, stretched and headed off for his food bowl. When he returned to his sleeping spot there were only two or three still clinging on.
It made me wonder if that was the ant equivalent of riding the rollercoaster at Disneyworld. Or if they were young ants just trying new things, whilst somewhere a queen ant was shouting “Kids! Get off that fat cat now – how many times have I told you?”
I still try to discover new things daily. Flickr is a great place for discovery, so is Bloglines. I just wish everyone provided RSS feeds for their blogs or photostreams – it would make it so much easier to keep that great feeling of finding a new thing alive.

I love your photographs. I noticed one a while back of a truck with Christmas trees in it. Did you take that in Virginia?
Another nice discovery that you maybe have not seen is this little nifty web-gizmo:

And Tom, you are dearly awaited at my place. Highlander posted the first paragraph several days ago….
summer – yes, that photo came from my d.c. set, which is actually mostly Virginia.
adam – I like th gizmo.
I asked about that picture as I grew up in Northern VA and so did the Stalcup family. All of us kids went to McLean High School. Small world we live in.
