I am always looking out for anomalies in the fabric of the universe, or as I like to call them, obstacles on the checkerboard of life. I guess I sometimes think that “The Matrix” could actually be true and we are all just living in a world devised by someone else.

Some of my most recent observations are below. By the way, the photo here was taken in downtown San Francisco – it is the Neiman Marcus building. They have the most palatial ceiling I have ever seen in a department store. Not sure why – who looks up when they are shopping (except me)?

Two headlines on MSNBC News Online on 20-Dec-2006
- Bush: US not winning in Iraq
- Brain exercises keep seniors sharp

These appeared one underneath the other on the homepage. Are those two somehow related? Or does someone at MSNBC just have a sense of humour?

Walking though a building two weeks ago :
- The Physical Abuse Centre – Please Come In !

Now that one really gets me. There is nothing about that sign that really entices me to come in.

Watching a Car Advertisement on US TV last week:
- Visit your tri-state area dealer for details. Residency restrictions may apply.

Residency restrictions? I don’t want to live in the vehicle! And surely with the state of car sales in the US right now, they will take a buyer from anywhere…

One Response to “Obstacles on the Checkerboard of Life”

  1. Of course Tom you re right, the Universe is just a temporary anomaly in the bigger multiverse.

And: that MSNBC thing was pretty fun.

And - The Physical Abuse Centre – Please Come In !

Hilarious! I am happy to see that the Monty Python guys are still in buisness!
