In the Pink

21Mar2007

I am a big fan of the colour pink:

- I like to wear pink shirts
- I also like to wear Thomas Pink shirts (and pink Charles Tyrwhitt shirts)
- One of my friends even tells me that I “smell pink” (or is that purple? I think it’s purple)

Pink is also a traditionally Bermudian colour – the beaches are pink, the buses are pink, and many online suppliers overseas offer products in a shade of Bermuda Pink. Even Bermuda lobsters (spiny) are pink once you have given them a nice hot bath.

But right now I am really in the pink, and that’s not good. It is rather a dark shade of pink, and it covers most of my face, but is particularly conspicuous on my (rather large) nose.

The cause? Sailing season started on Saturday and I was silly enough not to wear suntan lotion. A mistake you only make once (a year).

So now I look like a cross between a red panda, Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer and someone afflicted with leprosy. I have probably also aged my skin by about twenty years. That’s not good when you look as old as I do already.

  1. I have no sympathy for you. :-P I’d give anything to be in your place. It’s been raining for the whole day here and its so cold I’ve to wear gloves. So sunburn in March doesn’t seem too bad.

  2. I like a man brave enough to wear pink. Crisp cotton shirts, just the right shade of pink.

Sympathies on the burn. I lived in Florida for years and yes, you only make that mistake once a year.
