Classic Advertising
26Apr2007I am a sucker for good advertising. I also wake up sometimes in the middle of the night. That’s a dangerous combination, because I end up watching all those informercials on TV, and want to buy anything that sells itself well.
No, I don’t mean Tony Little’s Gazelle, or the Bowflex Treadclimber. Workout machines and regimes need a better way to sell themselves. Skimpily-clad females do go some way to helping…
But I do mean the Magic Bullet, or the Tempurpedic ads (yes, I own a tempur mattress).
As well as great TV advertising, there are some classic print ads as well. Right now the following 2 ads really work for me:
- TV – the Shaun White AMEX commercial – where he uses his card to get around the world to anywhere dumping snow. It makes me smile every time. Must be the (rookie) snowboarder in me…
- Print – the HP print ad for colour photo printers which has the tag line “Don’t let your babies grow up to be JPEGs”. That’s just a classic line.
