Sharp as a Knife

Yes, I have spoken before about how I am a target market of one as far as infomercials are concerned. I have also briefly mentioned Billy Mays before.

Well, the other night in a fit of non-sleep I was drawn to a 30-minute masterpiece for the Samurai Shark, hosted by none other than Mr Billy Mays. The Samurai Shark is a tool that sharpens blades of any kind, and I immediately had to have one, even though I don’t own an RV, a fishing boat or have many of the other hobbies where you could put the Shark to good use.

The problem is that Billy is the ultimate salesman. If he is selling, most people want to buy. I can’t exactly tell you why. Maybe it is because he looks like the lovechild of an unholy union between Alec Baldwin (after using Just for Men) and Ron Popeil of Ronco fame (“Set it and forget it”).

The only category of item I think Billy might trouble to sell is fitness equipment – I don’t think he would look too fetching in spandex, although he would be able to spritz down the equipment after his workout with some Orange Glo.
