Collared

21Jan2008

I have written before about the fact that I am a big fan of good shirts – specifically Charles Tyrwhitt shirts. They may cost slightly more than something similar from Marks and Spencer, but the additional cost is worth it.

Case in point: The other night I was sitting at home afer work looking through some old photos. I hit upon some photos from 2002, and did a double take – the shirt I was wearing in the photo was exactly the same shirt I was wearing at that moment. That makes the shirt at least 5 years old, and it’s still pink and still going strong.

The Scottish blood in me says that the fact that I own at least 15 Tyrwhitt shirts means I probably won’t have to buy a new one for at least 10 years. That there is some sound economics, laddie.

If only I could say the same about my brass collar stiffeners – those things are like loose change – they seem to disappear everywhere – down the back of the couch, in the washing machine – it’s like they have a mind of their own. I think someone needs to design them so they are more like the gloves I wore as a kid – connected with a piece of string looped inside my shirt so they never get lost.
